Puppies Online Home

A puppy is for life and not just for Christmas and if you want a pure bred puppy then you can do a great deal of the search online right from the comfort of your computer. A pure bred puppy is one where it is possible to clearly identify the parents and note that they are of the same breed. If that breed is recognized by the National Kennel Council then you are looking at a purebred puppy.

If you do not require or desire a purebred puppy you can still carry out a search for your perfect pooch by going online and visiting the many animal shelters and other vendors. Remember that many authorities require dogs to be sold subject to certain minimum conditions such as good health, de-sexing and being micro-chipped for easy identification should the need arise. Make sure the dog vendor follows all the legal requirements.

But which type of puppy?

There are many breeds and the two main points you need to consider are:

  • Will it be a purebred puppy?
  • What are my requirements?

Taking the second point first is really important. If you have very little space for your puppy to play in, then buying a puppy which will grow into a large dog is not the way to go. If you have a very young family then be sure that the choice of puppy is the right type for your children.

Buying a pure bred puppy is both a matter of choice and a requirement if you wish to enter certain competitions for dogs. The local church fete where the title is ‘the friendliest dog in our town’ presents no problems. But only pure bred dogs can enter certain dog shows and you would need to be sure you had the right puppy if showing your dog is important to you.

Dogs have personalities

Doing some research for puppies online is a really good idea. You don’t have to travel, you can see photos, even videos of the various breeds and read all about their characteristics. If appearance is important then you can choose from the many varieties available.

If you choose a pure bred puppy be aware that breeders live where they do and that could be a long way from your place. For people who simply want a friendly puppy, your local dog shelter, certain pet shops and even your local vet might be a good source of information.

But it is possible to label a dog with a certain type of personality. If you want a docile and very friendly dog, then choose a puppy like that. If you want an energetic dog which will go for long walks and love every minute of it, then choose a puppy to match.

Of course whatever puppy you get, sensible and patient training will go a long way to make your dog and you the best of friends for many years to come. There are professional dog trainers and sometimes even a few lessons from them can make the world of difference to you and your puppy.
